A friend posted this on his wall on Facebook…My friend Matt is right on. Love is an action. I am writing a post today that will hopefully encourage you. You may be in the midst of some ugly stuff right now, or your life may rather be peaceful at the moment; we all know there is always a calm before a storm. Be encouraged.
“Commit everything you do to the Lord. Trust him and will help you.” Psalm 37: 5
The above scripture just happened to be in my devotional, and it definitely was something I needed to be reminded of. “Committing our way” is something we have to practice on a daily basis, it’s not just a one time and done thing. Some of us need to do this more than a few times a day. And that’s OK, because Jesus was once human and He “gets it.”
After you’ve bared your soul and handed the reins over to God, sometimes (actually, many times) it looks and feels like we’re being sent over a cliff. Never… and I’ll say it again, never take the reins from God’s hands. That, my friends seems utterly impossible. It’s not impossible. What prevents us from peace is that we let fear or worry to distract us from the sovereignty of Almighty God.
“You will keep in perfect peace, all who keep their thoughts and eyes on you.” Isaiah 26: 3
We trust God. We know His plans for us are for good and not for evil (Jeremiah 29: 11). We know He knows what’s best for us. Allow me to suggest that there are times we get discouraged because the suffering just plain hurts! This is when we must repeatedly cast all of our concerns, and fall at the feet of Jesus. For me, it’s many times a day, and it’s also many times a day for some of you too.
Understand something… casting your cares upon God can only be done through faith, for if there is the slightest doubt in your heart you will receive what you need from God (whether He provides a way of escape, or sufficient grace to carry on), you will be miserable. Some Christians are so anxious and fearful because they have not truly committed their way to the Lord and left it with Him. They took it to Him but walked away with it again.
