Each of us have the fingerprints of our Creator written all over us beginning in the womb. I love hearing how we come to see and respond to those fingerprints! A miracle happens!
Here is a message I want to share from my friend Sharon, who sends out a daily email to brighten the day. I’ll leave her email address at the bottom of the post if you would like to get her daily messages delivered to your inbox…
I’ve been thinking about growing…about growing in God, and letting Him grow in me.
When I was little, my body was growing every day, aiming for that short period when I would be
the best physically that I would ever be. The brief span of my life when I was as attractive as I would ever be,
my personality was in full blossom, I was sure I was the smartest and brightest
and I thought I owned the world.
That didn’t last very long.
While I was there, I put God and what He wanted for me aside, and went after what I wanted.
Big mistake.
I screwed it up.
Slowly, as I blindly let life man-handle me, chew me up and spit me out,
I started realizing that there must be more, something important and real.
It took a long time for me to get over myself and start listening to what my memories were trying to say to me.
Things from my grandmother, things told to me when I was little; fresh and new.
Things about Jesus that I forgot or shoved aside.
He got in the way, you see, of what I wanted to do.
Meanwhile, that body that had grown into its best condition was thrown into another phase…one not so
ego supportive…one that required longer sleeves, elastic waist bands and flatter heels.
I was getting old.
Yikes!
But a miracle was happening inside.
Inside, I had started listening and remembering and seeking and was sprouting fresh life.
Inside, I became something brand new, fresh, full of joy and purpose.
I let Jesus in, and He is here to stay.
I have embarked on a journey of growth and renewal that takes daily effort.
It’s not so easy all the time, and sometimes it’s inconvenient.
But it’s worth it.
Jesus Christ, God of the universe, Creator of all things,
was standing patiently by, waiting for me!
That’s what Jesus is all about, you see.
He knew I’d come back, and when I did, He took me into His arms and I will remain in them forever.
He gave a miracle to me while my father was in the hospital for the last time, before he went home.
As I watched my father fading, I watched him grow.
I watched his spirit blossom and his arms reach out for his beloved God.
I heard him praise God and heard him seek God’s blessings and protection for those of us he was leaving behind.
I watched my Daddy be born.
At last, I got it.
As the flesh grows weary, those who walk with God are renewed,
being prepared for our eternity with Him.
Please join us!
Please “get it”! It’s yours for the taking.
“For the word of the cross is folly to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God. For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and the discernment of the discerning I will thwart.” Where is the one who is wise? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world? For since, in the wisdom of God, the world did not know God through wisdom, it pleased God through the folly of what we preach to save those who believe. For Jews demand signs and Greeks seek wisdom, …”
1 Corinthians 1:18-31 ESV

“And have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Here there is not Greek and Jew, circumcised and uncircumcised, barbarian, Scythian, slave, free; but Christ is all, and in all. Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience,”
Colossians 3:10-12 ESV

“he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit,”
Titus 3:5 KJV

“Jesus said to them, “Truly I tell you, at the renewal of all things, when the Son of Man sits on his glorious throne, you who have followed me will also sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.”
Matthew 19:28 KJV

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
