“A spiritual gift is given to each of us so we can so we can help each other. To one person the Spirit gives the ability to give wise advice; to another the same Spirit gives a message of special knowledge.” 1 Corinthians 12:7-8
The gift of making wise-decisions and the gift of knowledge, both tie together with the gift of discernment. My Bible Dictionary defines knowledge as, “a seeking to know, an inquiry, an investigation, especially spiritual truth.” I’m not a Bible scholar, but I do know God’s Word intimately. I think the best thing is to show some scriptures which refer to the ability to give wise advice, and the gift of having special knowledge. Having special knowledge is having the ability to interpret and understand what God is really saying. Let’s first look at Titus 1:9…
“He must have a strong belief in the trustworthy message he was taught; then he will be able to encourage others with wholesome teaching and show those who oppose it where they are wrong.”
“When we tell you these things, we do not use words that come from human wisdom.”
1 Corinthians 2:13
Making wise decisions, giving wise advice, and having special knowledge are byproducts of walking with the Holy Spirit. Spiritual discernment enables us to draw conclusions based on God’s perspective. The Spirit most definitely lets us recognize the correct and incorrect use of scripture. Also, this is important…the Spirit helps us to identify and expose false teaching. Doubt, denial~all of the lies the enemy is feeding us… shall be gone. Satan’s greatest impact on us occurs by deception.
“Let the message of Christ, in all its richness fill your lives. Teach and counsel each other with the wisdom he gives.” Colossians 3:16
“Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true knowledge.” Proverbs 1:7
