“When I discovered your words, I devoured them. They are my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, O LORD God of Heaven’s Armies.” Jeremiah 15:16
How true these words are to me! Nothing has ever taken hold of me like Jesus Christ (You have enclosed me behind and before, and laid your hand upon me.” Psalm 139:5). I’d be a fool to turn back. I can only go forward, for I know the best is yet to come. Let me encourage you when I say any difficulties and hardships that come your way, even though they lead into the wilderness… you must never, EVER think of going back, but you must press on in this race of faith! And when we finish this race, we shall see the beautiful tapestry God has made out of every part of our lives; yes, we will see the beauty that even the devastating parts have made!
“I have not departed from his commands, but have treasured his words more than daily food.” Job 23:12
“How sweet your words taste to me; they are sweeter than honey.” Psalm119:103
We can gain as much human wisdom we’re able to acquire, but acquiring God’s wisdom is different. True wisdom goes beyond just accumulating knowledge; it’s about applying knowledge in a life-changing way. Intelligent or experienced people aren’t necessarily wise. Wisdom comes from allowing God’s teachings to guide us.
“Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.” Psalm119:105
This particular Scripture verse is secured by a magnet on my fridge, constantly reminding me of how much I need His Word. To walk safely in the woods at night we need a flashlight so we don’t trip over the tree roots or fall into holes. In this life we walk through a dark forest of evil! The Bible reveals the entangling roots of false philosophies and teachings; and beware – there are many out there! Studying and meditating on God’s Word will daily prepare us for whatever happens, and it’s also going to protect us from wolves in sheep’s clothing. We’ll be able to steer clear of the wolves, and keep traveling on the right path.
There’s so much to be said about God’s Word. All I can say is that I’m simply blown away with how my life lines up with Scripture… If you’re a follower of Christ, then you know exactly what I’m talking about. If you’re not a follower, I’ll leave you with this…
“Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:8
So when or if you taste and see… you’ll know too!
