“But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, Gentleness and self-control.” Galatians 5:22-23
Kindness and Goodness go hand in hand. You can’t have one without the other.
“If you have the gift of showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” Romans 12:8
I don’t think I need to define Kindness…I pretty much think you get it. Those who show kindness are caring people who are happy to give of their time and share their resources. God sent Jesus down to us because of His kindness:
“When God our Savior revealed his kindness and love, he saved us, not because of the righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He washed away our sins, giving us new birth and new life through the Holy Spirit. He generously poured out the Spirit upon us through Jesus Christ our Savior.” Titus 3:4-6
Now let’s talk about Goodness…the way God can turn something bad or evil into a blessing. I think we all know what Romans 8:28 says:
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Well, how does He do that? I haven’t a clue…all I know is that it’s one of the best promises given to us as believers. He works “everything” for good ~ not just “some” things. According to what God says…He can turn any circumstance you may find yourself in, for the better. That is just too wonderful! The Bible is full of stories of how God was able to “turn the tables.” But it has to be made clear…this promise isn’t for everyone…it can only be claimed by those who love God and those who are called by Him. In other words…those who the Holy Spirit convinces to receive Christ as Savior.
“With this news, strengthen those who have tired hands, and encourage those who have weak knees.” Isaiah 35:3
Whatever you’re going through…if you’re redeemed by the blood of the Lamb…keep pressing on. In God’s time…those tables will be turned. We have God’s Word on it.
