God Almighty…the Creator of the universe.
The maker of the sun, the moon, the planets, the stars…all of creation…all that we see.
It’s too awesome for us to comprehend with our limited minds.
Yet, by that same power, He runs to the rescue of the brokenhearted.
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” ~ The words of Jesus in Matthew 11:28-29
I don’t know what kind of heavy burdens you’re carrying, but Jesus knows all about them. He can and will free you from all of them, but we must remember it will happen according to His time schedule, not ours.
A yoke was a heavy wooden harness that fit over the shoulders of an ox. It was attached to a piece of equipment that the ox pulled. In our modern day, a yoke can be any difficult circumstance or challenge.
Jesus says His yoke is easy. This doesn’t mean a problem free, easy life…what it does mean is that it is a shared yoke, with the weight falling on bigger shoulders than yours.
One more thing: Ever since I woke up this morning…I’ve had the song “My Redeemer Lives” in my head. That was the inspiration for this post.
