I have recently started taking a Biblical Counseling course. My purpose in taking this class is not to make counseling my job or career, but just to have more Biblical wisdom to comfort and use God’s Word in a lay person’s setting . Anyway, the first semester -14 weeks – is all about Self-Confrontation. After all of the false teaching I’ve encountered (The Prosperity Health gospel, which says God wants you healthy, He never wants you sick, He doesn’t want you on any medicine… ALL ILLNESS is from the devil – you just need to rebuke it. You need to walk in your authority. God wants you to walk in divine health), it has been so refreshing to hear the simple truth that God is in absolute control. To deny that, denies God’s sovereignty! We can make as many plans as we want, but He’s the One who directs our steps. It’s all about Him, not us. This scripture really rings true…
He created us the way He did for a reason. It’s all part of His master plan to bring about His Kingdom. I was having an email conversation with a blogger friend of mine, and just praising God… we all are just one tiny dot on the map of the world, but each one of us is being used to accomplish God’s master plan! Amazing. Most blogs have a map or something that shows how many visitors from different places in the world are reading that blog or website, and are hearing God’s call!
Here’s something else to think about…
How many times do we say we have to apply the Word to our lives? How many times do others tell us that we should apply the Word to our lives? Applying the Word to our lives is dead wrong! Our lives constantly change, the Word never does. The Bible tells us the Word existed in the beginning – way before us. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So therefore, let me suggest that we need to apply our lives to the Word!
