So can you feel it?  Do you know what I mean?  Something happens in the center of your soul; that’s where the Holy Spirit lives, and He’s constantly whispering something ever so gently to each of us…

Stop your striving, “Be still and know I am God.”  Psalm 46:10.

The trials of life are sent to make us, not break us.  Financial troubles may destroy a person’s business but build up his character.  A direct blow to the outer person may be the greatest blessing possible to the inner person.  So if God places or allows anything difficult in our lives, we can be sure that the real danger or trouble will be what we will lose if we run away from or strive against our circumstances.

“… and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:7

Is there anything that can touch our hearts like the power of stillness?  This is what the world cannot take away… The Peace of God; and it’s reserved only for those who have learned to take their eyes off themselves and rest them on God alone.  This peace is an eternal calm that lies so deep within the human heart that no external difficulty or disturbance can reach it.

When praying this morning, the Lord impressed this upon me…

“Delight yourself also in the LORD, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.”  Psalm 37:4

Hmmmm… I decided to start seeking a good commentary, to maybe grasp the meaning of these words in a different way.  What does it really mean to delight oneself in the Lord?  To delight in someone means to experience great pleasure and joy in his or her presence.  This happens only when we know that person well.  So to delight in the Lord is this… to know, and love, and live to God, to live for God, to please Him and to be pleased in Him.  But here’s the thing, in the midst of doing all of these things, our minds start to become renewed.

“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”  Romans 12:2

Here’s where the miracle happens – when our minds start to get renewed by the Word, our desires and God’s desires line up with each other.  It’s not only that our desires line up, but the Word says we will prove or verify what God’s will is for our lives.  That’s exciting!  Think about this… We will each know what God’s will for us is!  I know that every true believer reading this can testify.  The importance that we originally assigned to things, over time gets replaced by things that didn’t have much importance to us before we met Christ!  Can I get an Amen?
