There’s no victory without abiding in Jesus! Yea, the world might throw you a few wins here and there but sooner or later, it’s inevitable – you crash and burn! Guaranteed. So what I’m saying is that there is no lasting victory without abiding in Jesus. Nothing is more vital than abiding in Him – nothing. I’ve always grasped more understanding from The New Living Translation of the Bible. Listen to what Jesus tells us…
“Remain in me, and I will remain in you. For a branch cannot produce fruit if it is severed from the vine, and you cannot be fruitful unless you remain in me.” John 15: 4
How great for the Master of the Universe to illustrate His truth through simple things that our human minds can totally understand. It’s not hard for us to get a picture in our minds of a grapevine and its branches. For how does a branch that is severed from the vine produce grapes? Simple, yet it’s an astounding truth.
Here is something else to think about… branches that don’t bear fruit are cut off at the trunk not only because they are worthless but also because they often infect the rest of the tree. People who don’t bear fruit for God or who try to block the efforts of God’s followers will be cut off from His life-giving power.
Many people try to be good, honest people who do what is right. But Jesus says that the only way to live a truly good life is to stay close to Him, like a branch attached to the vine. Apart from Christ our efforts are unfruitful. Are you receiving the nourishment and life offered by Christ, the vine? If not, you are missing a special-life altering gift He has for you.
“You need only to put your hand in Mine.” ~Jesus
