These fours verses in Scripture have the potential to dramatically change your life if you can really grab hold of them.  Why? Because it puts a finger on why many of us live defeated spiritual lives, without victory…

“If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.
Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.
For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.”
Colossians 3: 1-4

These four verses speak about Resurrection Truth.  Many of us tend not to really think too much of how this Resurrection power can work in our lives.  Let me give you a glimpse of what was happening in the Colossian church, and why Paul wrote these words to them.  The Apostle was battling false teachings that crept into the Colossian church – teachings that denied Christ as God and Savior.  To combat this devious error, Paul stressed Christ’s diety-His connection with the Father-and His sacrificial death on the cross for sin.  Only by being connected with Christ through faith can anyone have eternal life, and only through a continuing connection with Him can anyone have power for living.  He refutes the legalistic teachings, and tells them (and us) not to heed the world’s answers….

“Don’t let anyone capture you with empty philosophies and high-sounding nonsense that come from human thinking and from the spiritual powers of this world, rather than from Christ.

So don’t let anyone condemn you for what you eat or drink, or for not celebrating certain holy days or new moon ceremonies or Sabbaths.

Don’t let anyone condemn you by insisting on pious self-denial or the worship of angels, saying they have had visions about these things. Their sinful minds have made them proud, and they are not connected to Christ, the head of the body.

These rules may seem wise because they require strong devotion, pious self-denial, and severe bodily discipline. But they provide no help in conquering a person’s evil desires.  You have died with Christ, and he has set you free from the spiritual powers of this world.

So why do you keep on following the rules of the world, such as, don’t handle! Don’t taste! Don’t touch!”?                                                                                                                                                                  Colossians 2:  8, 16, 18-21

True spirituality is from the heart – a resurrection life within you.  Christianity is not about religion; it’s about following a person.
