Solomon starts Proverbs 8 by telling us that Wisdom is calling out to all of us…
“Listen to me! For I have important things to tell you. Everything I say is right, for I speak the truth and detest every kind of deception. My advice is wholesome. There is nothing devious or crooked in it. My words are plain to anyone with understanding, clear to those with knowledge.” Verses 6-9
“I, Wisdom, live together with good judgment. I know where to discover knowledge and discernment. All who fear the Lord will hate evil. Therefore I hate pride and arrogance, corruption and perverse speech.” Verses 12-13
When we love God, the more and more we acquire a bad taste for evil. We will hate everything evil. After all, there’s absolutely no way that love for God and love for sin can coexist. Wisdom goes on to tell us that IT is the foundation on which all life is built! Wisdom is simply fundamental for everything…
“The Lord formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else. I was appointed in ages past, at the very first, before the earth began. Verses 22-23
I was there when he established the heavens, when he drew the horizon on the oceans. Verse 27
I was the architect at his side. I was his constant delight, rejoicing always in his presence. And how happy I was with the world he created; how I rejoiced with the human family! Verses 30-31
Now when we look in the New Testament, Paul and John may have alluded back to some of these statements about wisdom to describe Christ’s presence at the creation of the world. In the beginning of the Gospel of John, we are told that Christ always existed…and was with God. “God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it.” John 1: 3-5. Wisdom—-Christ, Hmmmm…
“He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see–such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else and he holds all creation together. “ Colossians 1: 15-17
If you’re a believer, you totally “get” this, and your spirit is in complete harmony and agreement with God’s Spirit. You truly understand that the beginning of wisdom is fear of the Lord. If by chance you’re not 100% positive about Christianity, and you’re reading this…my goal is to back scripture up with scripture to make you see God is in the details of our lives. I will lay out nothing but truth.
